Homework Homework is an opportunity for students to practice and reinforce skills learned in class.
On a typical night, students should expect to spend 45-60 minutes on homework. This time includes 20 minutes of reading and projects.
Grading:
Approximate percentages: Homework will count as 10% of the grade Classwork will count as 10-20 % of the grade Quizzes 15-20% of the grade Tests and projects will count as 50%-60% of the grade **Spelling is 100 % test scores. Students will have a pre and post test weekly. There will be class time alloted to studying spelling words. Students whould also be studying the words at home. There is no formal homework collected.**
Late Work All class work is due the following day after it is assigned, unless otherwise noted.Students CAN take any unfinished class work home on the night it was assigned, but it is the student’s responsibility to keep track of what has been finished and what is missing. Late work will not be accepted after 2 days unless otherwise noted.Students will lose a letter grade the first day. The second day will be half credit. Students who are absent will receive their missing work when they return to school.Please do not request make up work until the third day your child is absent. This is a school policy. A student has the number of days he/she was absent to complete the missing work plus one day.Please let us know if there are any special circumstances for a prolonged absence. Students are responsible for writing down the homework from the homework board into their agenda/planner. They can also check this website for homework.
Retakes Students who achieve a D or F on a test or quiz may retake it and earn up to a B on the retake.
Schools: If you want to check your child's grades online, you will need to obtain a Powerschools password from the office.
Snack: Students may have a healthy snack in class. Please make sure the snacks are nut free. No cookies, candy or gum are allowed. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school each day. All other beverages will need to be consumed in the cafeteria.
Birthdays: We love to celebrate birthdays. Students may bring store bought treats for the class. Please make sure the treats are nut free.Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the school year. Please do not bring balloons to school. There are children on campus with allergies to latex and other materials found in balloons.
